Questions for couples: 50 questions to get to know each other better

Over time, a couple's conversations fill up with logistics: what's for dinner, who's picking up, what time are we meeting. Good questions bring back the other conversations, the ones that got you hooked in the first place.

These questions come from Between's question of the day. They're grouped by topic so you can choose based on the moment. They work best with no rush, phones face down and no judging each other's answers.

Heads up: the app itself is in Spanish for now. The English version is on its way.

How to get the most out of them

  • One a day

One question you really talk through beats twenty in a row. Make it a ritual: at dinner, in the car, before bed.

  • Both of you answer

One first, then the other. Sometimes the best part is seeing where you match and where you don't.

  • No judging

An honest answer is worth more than a perfect one. If a question doesn't feel right, move on to the next.

Between's question of the day

Between sends you a new question every day. Each of you answers on your own phone, and neither of you sees the other's answer until you've both replied, so nobody influences anybody. It's a small way to talk about something nice, even after a long day.

Frequently asked questions

What questions should you ask your partner to get to know them better?

The ones without a quick answer: what made you fall for me, when did you know it was serious, what's hard for you to ask me for, where do you see us in five years. One at a time, leaving room to talk.

How many questions should you ask in one night?

Just a few. Three or four questions you really talk through go much further than a whole list. That's why Between only suggests one a day.

What if a question makes someone uncomfortable?

Just skip it. A question game has to be a safe space: nobody has to answer anything they don't want to.
