Couple challenges: fun, romantic and teamwork ideas

A couple challenge is an excuse to do something you wouldn't do on a regular Tuesday: dance badly on purpose, declare your love like a broken robot, build a pillow tower against the clock. They last seconds and you'll remember them for days.

All of these challenges come from Between's catalog and are from the mild levels. All you need is each other.

Heads up: the app itself is in Spanish for now. The English version is on its way.

Fun challenges

  • Robot in love

Declare your love like a malfunctioning robot. 20 seconds.

  • Infomercial

Sell one of your kisses like it's an infomercial product. 20 seconds.

  • GPS compliment

Give them a compliment in a GPS voice: “In 200 feet, turn toward…”

  • Dramatic entrance

Leave the room and come back in like it's the final scene of a movie.

  • Made-up accent

Say something sweet in a made-up accent. Your partner guesses where it's from.

  • Bad poem

Improvise a love poem that rhymes… even if it's awful.

  • Late-night radio

Dedicate a song to them like a late-night radio host.

Romantic challenges

  • Three-line letter

Say a love letter out loud that's only three sentences long.

  • This year

In 30 seconds, tell them your favorite memory of the two of you from this year.

  • Favorite little thing

Tell them which of their little habits makes you smile the most, day after day.

  • Forehead kiss

Give them a slow kiss on the forehead and say one word that describes them today.

  • You choose

Your partner picks a kiss, a hug or a compliment. You deliver it right now.

Teamwork challenges

Nobody wins here: either you both pull it off or neither of you does.

  • Forehead carry

Carry an object from one side of the room to the other holding it only between your foreheads.

  • Pillow tower

Build a tower together out of pillows or whatever's nearby in 60 seconds, without it falling over.

  • In sync

Count to 20 at the same time without looking at each other. If you get out of sync, start over.

  • Four steps

Make up four dance steps together and do them in sync.

  • Blind build

One of you guides with your voice while the other, eyes closed, lines up three objects. You have 60 seconds.

Challenges with a little rivalry

Competing as a couple is fun, especially when the prize is just for show.

  • Poker face

Try to make each other laugh without touching. Whoever laughs first is the waiter next round.

  • Memory test

Look at your partner for 10 seconds. Close your eyes and name the color of everything they're wearing.

  • Who knows more

Three quick questions about you two: where you met, the date and your song. Whoever gets more right wins.

  • Rematch

Rock, paper, scissors, best of three. The loser gives the winner an over-the-top compliment.

Rules for challenges that go well

  • Skipping always counts

Either of you can skip a challenge without explaining. Otherwise it stops being a game.

  • Start small

Begin with the fun ones and only turn up the intensity if you both feel like it.

  • Small prizes

A hand massage, picking the next song, playing waiter: just enough to make you want to win.

Obsidian Roulette

In Between, challenges come from a turn-based roulette. It only picks from the categories you've both accepted (romantic, fun, teamwork, competitive…), and each of you marks them privately. The intensity starts mild and goes up little by little; the boldest levels only unlock if you both confirm them for that game. Skipping a challenge never costs points.

Frequently asked questions

What challenges can couples do at home?

Challenges that need no supplies: dancing for 30 seconds, imitating each other, building a pillow tower, counting to 20 without looking at each other or saying something sweet in a made-up accent.

How do you do couple challenges without anyone feeling uncomfortable?

Agree that skipping is always allowed and start mild. In Between each of you sets your limits privately and the game only suggests what works for both of you, without your partner knowing what you ruled out.

Are Between's challenges explicit?

No. Between has no explicit content. There are bolder levels, but they only show up if you both confirm them.
